The New York Celtic Dancers is a professional Scottish dance company providing performances, demonstrations and classes in the northeast United States.     But let's be clear: NYCD IS NOT YOUR GRANNY'S SCHOOL OF SCOTTISH HIGHLAND DANCE. NYCD highlights both traditional Scottish dance and contemporary interpretations of the tradition in their wildly spirited and engaging performances. We count among our ranks many former Highland competitors who returned to Scottish dance looking for something different.  The performances of NYCD combine the technical artistry and strength of traditional highland dance with a performance sensibility and a wide variety of music sure to have you moving in your seat.  Whether traditional, contemporary, medieval or for our occasional punk show (check out the video!), NYCD brings the immediacy, the energy and the exhilaration of Scottish dance and music alive.
